Doctor Bacchiocchi, don’t confuse type and antitype. Don’t try to prove your Sabbath theology by discrediting the New Testament’s fulfilment of the Old by means of false dichotomies used to water down the prophetic fulfilment of David’s words in Christ.

Adventism’s re-elected pope
Paulsen appears to be a conservative, going the way of the traditionalists who hold to Ellen White’s writings. It’s unlikely that he’ll reform the Adventist denomination regarding their views on Ellen White – he has not done so thus far. He is looking at liturgy reform, it seems, in his views on church music. At least the views expressed do not go to the extreme Bacchiocchi goes to.

Dr. Beverly Whelton – The Journey Home

Monetary offerings on the Sabbath???
I find it odd, as a frequently used argument by Adventists is that the offerings on the first day of the week mentioned in 1 Cor 16:2 were put aside on the first day because collecting them on the Sabbath would have been breaking the Sabbath. Are Adventists today breaking the Sabbath by taking up such collections? Or is it just a bad argument?

Adventist Review: The Papacy in Transition
William Johnsson here confuses the priesthood of Christ with the pastoral role of the clergy, who act as Christ’s representatives. That is a completely biblical concept. The human clergy do not replace Christ in any way – and both types of priesthood are identified in the New Testament, as well as a third – the universal priesthood of the individual believer.

Testimony of an ex-Adventist #7
What I find most compelling about Catholicism though is why it has drawn such ire from SDA’s. Though Adventists have issue with all other religions in general, none is held in as much contempt as Catholism. Knowing that seventh day adventism is founded on and fueled by satanic dreams, visions, and teachings leads me to conclude that their most hated rival must be founded on and fueled by the One True God.

Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and to those whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, he He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

Testimony of an ex-Adventist #4
I was shocked to find out that nothing I had learned as an SDA about Catholics was true. Not one thing! I had spend the better part of my formative years having nightmares about Catholics murdering my family and my running as they were pursuing me to kill me as well. … As I went through RCIA and did my own private study of the faith …

Testimony of a current Adventist
It is a pity that you are only hearing about the bad things about the SDA church. I am not writing this article to argue about anything. I just feel compelled to tell you that I have been a SDA member all my life and my father is an SDA minister and never once has he or any other minister tried to force Ellen White down my throat.

My search for evil in the Catholic Church helped me to find a good instead, and I am soon to began my confirmation process.

Testimony of an ex-Adventist #2
I was a third-generation Adventist until 15 years ago when I left and never looked back. I came from a “traditional” Adventist home where I was taught that the Catholic Church was Babylon and the Pope was practically Satan himself. This is pretty typical of traditional SDA teachings, saturated as they are with Ellen White’s drivel.

Testimony of an Adventist
I look forward as always to Easter. I look forward to attending the local Catholic church for the Stations of the Cross Mass. No other church puts that weekend in perspective like the Catholic Church.

Testimony of a recovering ex-Adventist
Yes, I was raised thinking the Catholics were all going to Hell really fast when Jesus came and that someday the pope was going to get the mark of the beast and persecute us and kill us for keeping the Sabbath. Pretty bad huh? They keep you paranoid and scared from childhood on, still some of it is stuck in my head, I am having a catholic help deprogram me. LOL When I was in high school my best friend was catholic and I remember crying and telling her I felt so bad and I did, because she wasn’t going to heaven. Well, I left that church along time ago, now the clergy all know about it and quite a few of the members, that EG WHITE was a false Prophet. Walter Rae was my minister too. And its been published in their mintery Magazine. (Name withheld)

Testimony of an ex-Adventist #1
Greetings. I must say that I appreciate what you have to say about how the SDA’s treat those in the Catholic Church and the Catholic Church in general. Although I am not a member of the Catholic Church, and although I do not see the Catholic Church as “the true church,” I am especially sensitive to other Christians, Catholic or otherwise, who are mistreated by the SDA Church.

Adventist dishonesty in the way they present the Catholic faith
Recently (the week or so prior to Easter 2004) someone on alt.religion.christian.adventist and alt.religion.christian.roman-catholic posted several messages about Adventism, claiming it was a cult, and listing some of its doctrines. Several Adventists responded with shock, aghast at the way someone could misrepresent their faith in this way.

An Adventist who takes comfort in the deaths of Christians
Here is a lovely example of the hate mail I get from my website. I think it speaks for itself. If he’d bothered to read my website, he’d notice that I do not call Adventism “satan’s church.” He’s also pretty hung up about his own church’s members being put to death when some imaginary law gets passed. He also didn’t name the “colobian official” and I doubt that this is anything more than just rumour within their community to try to foster paranoia and fear of other Christians. His final remark is really nice. Let this be a lesson to Adventists and non-Adventists out there.

Adventist anti-Catholic hatred is alive and well
From time to time I get some vicious remarks from Adventists who don’t want to discuss the Bible, but feel they should take the opportunity to insult those of us who do take it seriously. Here are a few of the best, along with some statements that, without being nasty, demonstrate the real nature of Adventist anti-Catholicism.

An analysis of an essay by the Adventist pastor/sociologist Dr Frank Steyn
Dr Frank Steyn, PhD, sociologist, and previously SDA pastor in the Columbia Union within the Ohio Conference. I receive several items of hate mail at times from Adventists who simply cannot stomach what my website has to say. They accuse me of all sorts of things, but few of them ever actually quote the Bible for me, and usually they just rant on with anti-Catholic propaganda that has no basis in history or rational thinking.

Spiteful remarks from Dr Frank Steyn, an Adventist pastor/sociologist
I have posted 3 e-mails here, from a Dr Frank Steyn. Note that all he was willing to do was insult. No response with reasoned arguments from the Bible or other sources. At present he has started debating, but does not stick to one topic or discuss one concept in full, and after each reply I send, he changes to a new topic. Topic hopping and verse hopping are common among Adventists and Jehovah’s Witnesses and others whose doctrines are not firmly based on the Bible.
