Dear Adventists. The sabbath is not God.
God does not change. The Bible tells us this. Adventists need to stop using those verses as proof texts that the sabbath doesn’t change. Those passages refer to God, and, unless Adventists think the sabbath is God, those passages do not refer to the sabbath.

Sabbath rest or sabbath worship? – Part 2
In my previous post, I looked at how the Bible never calls the sabbath a day of worship. I’ve challenged Adventists to show me where the Bible says it is a day of worship. Needless to say, there were no responses forthcoming that actually provided me with biblical evidence of the Adventist claim.

Sabbath rest or sabbath worship? – Part 1
If Adventists are right, even remotely right, there must be some biblical instruction in the Old Testament that the sabbath is God’s decreed day of worship. But there isn’t …

Are the annual holy days of Israel fulfilled by Christ?
Some Christians say we should observe the Holy Days instructed in the Old Testament. Some say they pointed to Christ and were fulfilled by Christ.

A summary of the Sabbath vs Sunday evidence
This is a useful summary of the biblical evidence against sabbath observance and for Sunday observance.

Troll feeding, part 2
Adventists are strange things indeed. Experts in deceit. Experts at trolling. Experts at saying the same misconceptions over and over without listening to explanations as to why they are wrong. E.g. why we should all go and commit adultery and murder if we consider the sabbath obsolete. As if repeating the same silly argument will make people change their minds. Intelligent discussion with them is rare, and mostly impossible. I’ve never, never come across a religion with so much dishonesty in it, and with so much dishonesty displayed by its followers.

Thus saith Ellen, part 4 – The 10 commandments
These descriptions, given to Ellen White in a vision, prove that the vision was NOT given by God. If it was not given by God, who was it that gave Ellen this vision? And what was their agenda when highlighting the sabbath?

Matthew 24 – The Olivet Prophecy
In Matt 24, Jesus outlines the events occurring at the end of the age. Does this mean the end of the world, sometime in the future? Probably not. Jesus specified that these events would happen in the lifetime of those he was speaking to – Matt 24:34. Furthermore, Jesus did indeed come at the end of an age, according to Heb 9:26 and 1 Cor 10:11 – and then God’s relationship with Israel ended with Israel being called a harlot, and the Old Covenant came to an end.

Does Adventism teach a deficient Gospel?
In the recent discussions with Adventists I’ve started to realise that Saturday observance, in the way modern sabbatarians teach it, is actually more than just a theological difference, more than just a minor error. It’s a complete defect in the nature of the New Covenant.

The Law of God vs the Law of Moses
Adventists like to distinguish between the law of God and the law of Moses, between a moral law and a ceremonial law.

Galatians 4: Adventists are Hagar, Christians are Sarah
The other side, those who are Hagar’s children – Muslims and Adventists – are in bondage, following the covenant at Sinai. That’s a huge revelation regarding Adventism. They lack, due to their allegiance, a full part in the New Covenant.

10 Commandments, Pentecost, and the Holy Spirit
By various means, people have calculated that it was 50 days (inclusive) after Passover that the 10 Commandments were give by God to Moses.

Baptism by immersion only?
Adventists baptise only by full immersion (submersion), and they don’t consider other forms of baptism to be real baptisms. They also don’t baptise infants, but that’s another story for another day. As with the Sabbath, Adventism’s doctrine is based on selected texts and not the entire biblical picture. The Catholic Church, on the other hand, …

The Sabbath first revealed to man
Exodus 16 is the very first time in the Bible when anyone is told to keep the Sabbath. What has just happened is that Israel has come out of Egypt. If we compare Exodus 20 to Deut 5, we get two things that the Sabbath represents. 1 – creation (in the Exodus text). 2 – coming out of Egypt (in the Deuteronomy text). God’s intention must have been to have a dual symbolism there.

The 10 Commandments and the New Law in Catholic teaching
Here we look at Catholic explanations, showing that this concept of the 10 Commandments being part of the Old Covenant legal code, and therefore not the legal code in effect today, is indeed believed by Catholics and supported by Catholic teaching.

The Sabbath and the Old Covenant, part 3
In the first part of this series, we saw that the Sabbath commandment is one of the 10 Commandments, that the 10 Commandments are the words of the Old Covenant, and that the Sabbath was the sign of the Old Covenant. In Part 2 we looked at the New Covenant’s legal code, and saw that the 10 Commandments are no longer binding as a legal code under the New Covenant. Now we’ll look at how the 10 Commandments still apply to Christians.

The Sabbath and the Old Covenant, part 1
If you ask the average Christian, “Should we obey the 10 Commandments?” they will likely say “Yes.” Enter the Adventist, who then asks why the average Christian doesn’t keep the 4th commandment, which states that we should keep the Sabbath. … The Decalogue was the actual set of words making up the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant was replaced with the New. Even Paul acknowledges that the law written on stone has been replaced.
