News and commentary on Adventism:

In Memoriam: William H. Shea Remembered as a Remarkable, Humble ScholarAdventist Review
I remember reading things by him long ago.
Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Anima eius et animae omnium fidelium defunctorum, per misericordiam Dei, requiescant in pace.

Spectrum Magazine not given a booth in this years GC exhibition hallReddit
Apparently because they let their stall out to an Adventist LGBTQI community, Kinship International.

AToday also lost their GC booth. This is starting to look politicalReddit
Interesting. Adventist Today is also on the liberal side, not as much as Spectrum. “Thinking Adventists” I’d call them.

Although Adventist Pharmacy Worker’s Case Declined by Supreme Court, Case Moves Cause of Religious Liberty in the Workplace ForwardSpectrum
Back to the Patterson v Walgreens case that the US Supreme Court declined to take on. This discusses the implications further, with reference to another case, TWA v Hardison, that is anti-employee. Looks like the 1970s SCOTUS was a nasty lot.

Does The Coronavirus Make The Case For World Government?ZeroHedge
My response: Does the coronavirus mean we might soon have a world-ruling Catholic monarchy?
In short:
A good Catholic monarchy running the world would be good: my choice would be the House of Stuart, with the current head as King Francis – Franz Bonaventura Adalbert Maria Herzog von Bayern aka Franz, Duke of Bavaria, and his successor (King Max), and Max’s successor, Queen Sophie aka Sophie, Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein.

Ordination and Compliance: Just the FactsAdventist Today
Women’s ordination has turned into a divisive political issue within the Seventh-day Adventist church. Unlike in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, Adventist women can become valid Adventist pastors. That’s because Adventism does not possess, or claim to possess, a valid priesthood as understood by Catholics and Orthodox. Their male pastors are the equivalent of Catholic lay readers, who can be men or women. Obviously they do more than read – they have theological training, pastoral training, and they can teach Adventism and Ellenism. Catholic men and women can do all those things too (except for the teaching Adventism/Ellenism bit – Catholics will teach Christianity). Adventists are only now realising that their women can do as much as Catholic women have done for centuries.
