It has been a while. Much has happened. The COVID-19 2nd wave came and went for us. The SSPX priest in Cape Town said of the COVID regulations at the peak of our 2nd wave: “\u2026 none of these laws have any value whatsoever before God, and so we have no obligation in conscience to obey them \u2026<\/em>“. On 3 January, he said: “Hopefully we’ll have everybody for a funeral here \u2026<\/em>” He tried to organise fake funerals<\/a> with the local police. They were not that stupid. He got his wish, and there was a real funeral two weeks later. Not COVID-related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cognitive Dissonance is a totally insufficient explanation of the Historical Bedrock pertaining to the Resurrection<\/a><\/strong> – reddit, u\/Ortho-Apologia
<\/em>Very interesting argument defending the reality of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. In short, it argues that the apostles didn’t make up the resurrection due to cognitive dissonance. There would have been greater cognitive dissonance with a resurrection narrative than without one. This means that, in spite of the discomfort the resurrection would have caused in their belief system, they maintained belief in it, meaning it was more likely true than false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modernism<\/a><\/strong> – Catholic Answers Focus<\/em>
What the heresy of “Modernism” really is. It’s not ugly architecture. It’s not “what I disagree with<\/em>“. It IS used as an insult to shut down conversation instead of have an intelligent discussion. It’s not what the SSPX members think it is.
The article does make a mistake in its classification of what is permanently binding when Fr Walshe claims that “it was always considered that the canons were the infallible part of a council<\/em>\u201d. You only need to look at the early councils and see what their canons contained vs what their decrees contained. I’ll cite a few from the First Council of Nicaea: Canon 20 is always at the top of such a list – this has been completely and utterly abandoned by the western Catholic Church. We kneel on Sundays. That was a non-infallible canon. Many, perhaps most, of the canons were disciplinary. Canon 4 – bishops must be appointed by all the bishops in their province. Canon 5 – two yearly synods to resolve excommunications, one before Lent and one in autumn. Canons 11-14 – lapsed Catholics who return to the Church must do penance for several years before taking communion again. By the time we reach Trent, things are different, but even then some applied only to the Latin Catholic Church in the west, e.g. 7th session > Confirmation > Canon 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
