\"NovenaIn the Nine Days leading up to the 179th anniversary of the birth of Adventist prophetess Ellen White<\/a>, we will say a\u00a0novena<\/a>\u00a0– a prayer continued for nine days – for those who follow her teachings today.<\/p>\n

The novena (from the Latin\u00a0novenus\u00a0= ninth) is based on several biblical types, most notable the 9 days between the Ascension of Christ into heaven and Pentecost, during which time the Apostles, the Virgin Mary, and many of Jesus’ disciples prayed.<\/p>\n

Acts 1:4-9, 13-14, 2:1-2 [KJV]\u00a0 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.\u00a0 [1:5]\u00a0 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.\u00a0 [1:6]\u00a0 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?\u00a0 [1:7]\u00a0 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.\u00a0 [1:8]\u00a0 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.\u00a0 [1:9]\u00a0 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.\u00a0 … [1:13]\u00a0 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.\u00a0 [1:14]\u00a0 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.\u00a0 … [2:1]\u00a0 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.\u00a0 [2:2]\u00a0 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.<\/span><\/div>\n

Further significant nines: Jesus was in Mary’s womb for nine months; Jesus died at the ninth hour.<\/p>\n

On the following nine days, we will pray about various aspects of Adventism, in the context of the life and teachings of Ellen White, and ask her, the saints, the angels, and the Virgin Mary to pray with us Christians here on earth as we ask God to bring healing to the theology of the Adventist church, to bring release from bondage to the members of the Adventist church, and to let the light and love and truth of the Catholic Church of Christ spread throughout the world.<\/p>\n

We will pray about the following:<\/p>\n

Day 1 – Saturday 18th November – Anti-Catholic teachings<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 2 – Sunday 19th November – The Investigative Judgement<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 3 – Monday 20th November – Persecution<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 4 – Tuesday 21st November – False Prophecies<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 5 – Wednesday 22nd November – The Dietary Laws of Moses<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 6 – Thursday 23rd November – Soul Sleep<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 7 – Friday 24th November – The Sabbath<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 8 – Saturday 25th November – The Mass<\/span><\/strong>
\nDay 9 – Sunday 26th November – The Saints of the Church<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Note: As the prayers will be posted in the evenings, they will depict the events of the following day, where appropriate.<\/p>\n
