Here’s another delightful gem\u00a0from the guy<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0alt.religion.christian.adventist<\/a>\u00a0who claims Catholicism changed the Bible<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He chopped out the word “commandments” in Exodus 16:28, and replaced it with “Sabbaths” – he may well be quoting from the\u00a0Clear Word Bible<\/a>, but I am not sure of that.\u00a0 The\u00a0Clear Word Bible<\/a>\u00a0is an Adventist composition that makes tremendous changes to the actual text in order to support Adventist teachings. [1<\/a>] [2<\/a>] [3<\/a>]<\/p>\n

The real Exodus 16:28 reads as follows in the KJV:<\/p>\n

Exo 16:28\u00a0 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s verse 28 he’s adapted, and the Sabbath was first mentioned in verse 23.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, there is no mention of the word “Sabbath” in the Old Testament.<\/p>\n

Since the Bible says\u00a0that it was to Israel that God revealed the Sabbath, it couldn’t have existed prior to Israel.<\/p>\n

(Deut 5:3) The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What covenant?\u00a0 The one mentioned in the verses immediately following – the 10 Commandments.<\/p>\n

Deu 4:13\u00a0 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.<\/span><\/p>\n

(Neh 9:14) And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

By Moses thy servant.\u00a0 Not by Adam or by Abraham.<\/p>\n

(Ezek 20:12) Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Who?\u00a0 Those he led out of Egypt.<\/p>\n

He actually changed the text to say “Sabbaths<\/span>” instead of “commandments<\/span>.”\u00a0 And he\u00a0accuses Catholicism<\/a>, falsely no less, of altering the Bible?<\/p>\n
